A continuous culture that has celebrated life in the Clarence Valley since the Dreamtime.
The Clarence Valley is the southern end of the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, a place of astonishing physical beauty and extraordinary cultural diversity – where teeming marine parks, ancient rainforests and thriving rural communities are nourished by vast winding rivers – the rivers of life.

The largest of these rivers is the Clarence. Over 400kms from source to sea, the Clarence River is one of Australia’s largest waterways.

Originally known as “Booryimba” the majestic Clarence River is a living link between the ancient Dreamtime and the Bundjalung, Yaegal and Gumbanjirr people of today.

Since ancient times it has been a playground, a highway, a major food source and the lifeblood of our valley.

From Iluka in the north through Yamba, Maclean and Grafton to Wooli our Valley is blessed with an idyllic sub- tropical climate.

The Valley is a natural wonderland, with coastal and moutain wilderness preserved in World Heritage listed National Parks. In the lush green vegetation you’ll find an incredible variety of flora and fauna, including one third of all Australian bird species.

The Clarence has over 80 kilometres of spectacular coastline — much of it completely unspoiled — and among its vast sandy beaches, secluded sub-tropical coves, endless white sands are some of the worl’d best surf breaks.

The Clarence Valley is a cultural treasure trove where you can spend days browsing art and craft galleries, individual artists studios, antique and collectible stores or explore heritage trails and uncover history at eight museums.

Throughout the Valley are dozens of delightful towns, villages and rural hamlets. There are classic country pubs, funky cafés, award-winning restaurants and an abundance of fetes, fairs and festivals.

Whether you’re enjoying fine cuisine at an award-winning restaurant or sipping billy tea around a camp fire, you’ll relax in an environment that leaves you invigorated and with more energy than you’ve had for years.
